Tennis4Kids is all about bringing the very early stages of Tots and Junior Tennis to the playground of infant and junior schools around Buckinghamshire.
We provide fun but structured learning from 3 years upwards, and will help develop your child’s confidence as well as their ball and racket skills…and who know maybe they will become the next Andy Murray!
This is about improving hand-eye coordination, creating movement and agility among young children, teaching them how to respond quickly and to change their direction of movement whilst introducing the start of ball control and racket skills.
The added bonus is that this gives parents an extra 45 minutes – 2 hours at the end of a working day before their children need to be collected.
Children between 3 and 10 years old can now get stuck into the world of tennis with Tennis4Kids.
Using smaller courts, playgrounds or even school halls, mini nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls, Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.
There are four stages of LTA Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored approach enables your child to develop vital skills and techniques at this very early age.
We support the LTA Fair Play values principles:
Tots is for children aged 3 to 5 years old and enables them to learn the basics and how to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities, based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket and ball skills.
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red and is for players aged 8 and 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.
It is the next stage before playing on a full sized court and helps players develop different shots and tactics.
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls.
It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.
All our coaches are at least Level 2 LTA approved coaches that have undergone full DBS checks.
DBS is the new name for CRB checks and stands for Disclosure and Barring Service.
Our coaches mostly teach within your local tennis clubs and are used to working with children from 3 upwards. they are not there to generate the next Wimbledon Champs, they have a passion for engaging young children in the game of tennis and this starts here.
They are trained to make the game fun, to introduce children to moving not just forwards, but backwards and sidewards, controlling a ball at their feet or with a racket, bouncing and catching balls and whole repertoire of activities to teach children to be alert, agile and athletic.
Our coaches usually have children of their own and understand how children respond when something like this is fun.
Each session is 45 minutes long and costs only £6 per child and you sign up for a school terms at a time.
The session starts directly after school time and in most cases will take place in the playground weather permitting.
If the weather works against us, this will take place in the school hall, either way you can be certain that your child is well cared for in a safe and familiar environment.

It’s ideal if they have a drink for during the session as we do tend to rush around a lot and we will not supply a drink. They shouldn’t need food unless you feel the session interrupts a normal snack time for them.
We would recommend doing this in their PE kit, although simply changing into trainers in most cases would be enough.
Our coaches are trained in emergency first aid, however it’s vital that we know everything possible about your child before they join the sessions.
We work to a tight schedule, working at many schools, so we do need you to collect your children on time. In the event that you are going to be unavoidably late we ask that you call our emergency number from the welcome pack. Late charges may apply if this happens more than once.
We are not a huge national company with hundreds of staff; more often than not we are delivering these sessions ourselves, we are local parents with children at local nurseries and schools and we would be happy to meet you at any time to suit you first.
Additionally we are LTA approved (lawn Tennis Association)and we are all fully DBS (disclosure and Barring Service) checked.
We are engaged with dozens of tennis clubs around your local area and we can provide you with week end and school holiday camps for your child to join. Just contact us for more details.
